Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district since 2009, addressed several national issues in recent posts on her social media account.
On March 12, Chu commented on a newly introduced bill by Republicans regarding abortion medication. She stated, “Republicans just introduced a bill to ban mifepristone. The following day, March 13, Chu responded to an incident at Temple Israel in Michigan: “I am horrified by the antisemitic attack at Temple Israel in Michigan. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community. Antisemitism has no place in America. Everyone deserves the right to practice their faith safely & without fear. We must stand”.
Later that same day, she addressed conditions at an immigration detention facility: “In the span of one week, two people died at the hands of the Adelanto ICE Processing Center. That marks the fourth death at Adelanto since Trump took office. Irvin Cruz-Nape was wrongfully admitted to Adelanto because ICE mistook him for someone else. He had chest pains while in”.
Chu has represented California’s 28th District since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, she graduated from UCLA with a BA degree in 1974.
