Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, posted a series of statements on April 16, 2026, addressing topics ranging from civil rights history to current policy debates in Washington.
In her first post of the day, Chu marked the anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s legacy, writing: “Today we celebrate Pasadena’s own Jackie Robinson, an American icon whose legacy goes beyond baseball and shaped the course of civil rights in our nation. With talent and determination, he broke barriers and paved the way for generations of Black athletes. Happy https://t.co/ESyHHOA16U” (April 16, 2026).
Later that day during a Ways and Means Committee hearing, Chu questioned Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about his stance on childcare grants. She posted: “During today’s @WaysMeansCmte hearing, I asked RFK Jr. if he agrees with eliminating childcare grants. He wouldn’t answer me straight. The Trump Administration is ignoring the childcare affordability crisis. They are saying they can’t help families and children here at home https://t.co/IwuZ459h8v” (April 16, 2026).
Chu also commented on U.S. foreign policy regarding Iran: “By every metric, Trump’s war in Iran is a failure. It has cost the American people an estimated $40 billion, and roughly 61% of Americans oppose the war. That’s why today, I voted YES again to pass the War Powers Resolution. Unlike my Republican colleagues, I chose to listen to” (April 16, 2026).
Chu has represented California’s 28th District in Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, she graduated from UCLA with a BA in 1974.
