Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, has recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from Congressional gridlock to higher education and support for the entertainment industry.
On October 14, 2025, Chu criticized House Republicans for a lack of legislative progress. She wrote, “It’s week 4 of vacation for House Republicans. No plan. No strategy. No leadership. Speaker Johnson, stop the chaos and work with Democrats to fund the government, protect affordable health care, and put the American people first.”
The following day, October 15, 2025, Chu marked an educational milestone for Pomona College, noting its place in academic history. She stated, “Yesterday marked Founding Day for @pomonacollege, the very first of the Claremont Colleges (7Cs)! Pomona began with a vision for excellence and community, and today, it’s part of one of the most unique and collaborative college consortiums in the nation.”
Later on October 15, Chu highlighted bipartisan legislative efforts to support domestic film and television production. She posted, “.@RepNicole & I wrote in @TheHill about our bipartisan CREATE Act, which would extend & strengthen Section 181, the only federal tax incentive to keep film & TV production in the U.S. If it expires, workers & small businesses in CA & NY will pay the price. We must invest in”
Chu has represented California’s 28th District since 2009 after succeeding Hilda Solis. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu graduated from UCLA with a BA in 1974.
