Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, recently addressed several issues on her social media accounts, including democracy, food security, and LGBTQ+ rights.
On March 29, 2026, Chu participated in a community event in the San Gabriel Valley. She wrote: “I was so inspired to join neighbors across the San Gabriel Valley yesterday to stand up for our country and tell Trump he’s not a king. In a democracy, the people’s voices matter. No Kings! Not now or ever.”
Two days later, on March 31, Chu commented on food assistance programs as National Nutrition Month concluded. She stated: “As National Nutrition Month comes to an end, we should be ensuring all Americans have healthy food on their tables. But because of Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill, instead 3 million Californian households could lose their SNAP/CalFresh benefits and go hungry.”
Later that day, Chu highlighted concerns about conversion therapy practices targeting LGBTQ+ youth. She posted: “Scientific evidence shows that ‘conversion therapy’ inflicts profound, lasting harm to LGBTQ+ youth. This fight is not over, and I will continue to fight for every American’s right to live openly, authentically, and without fear.”
Chu has represented California’s 28th District in Congress since succeeding Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park at age 69, she graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974.
