Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on her social media account this week. The topics included foster care policy, the impact of tariffs on American families and businesses, and concerns over free speech.
On September 23, 2025, Chu highlighted her participation in an event focused on foster care, stating, “I was honored to join the @NFYInstitute and the @DodgersFdn for their Foster Care Mental Health & Housing Symposium! Listening to the voices of foster youth and advocates is essential to shaping policies that meet their needs, and I’ll keep working to expand foster care”.
The following day, September 24, 2025, Chu criticized former President Donald Trump’s tariff policies in another post: “Trump’s reckless tariffs are hurting everyday Americans, including so many Asian American families and small businesses. And it’s no accident. While billionaires get tax cuts, Trump and Republicans are making your everyday household items more expensive. As @CAPAC Chair Emerita,”.
On September 25, 2025, Chu commented on recent developments involving television host Jimmy Kimmel and actions by Trump: “Let’s be clear: Trump didn’t want @jimmykimmel cancelled over a joke — he wants to silence his critics. And now that Kimmel is back on the air, he is calling on the FCC to revoke licenses from opposing networks. We won’t stop pushing back against Trump’s attacks on free speech.”
Chu has served as a member of Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. She was born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently resides in Monterey Park. Chu graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a BA in 1974.
