On health care access, Chu wrote on October 7: “Fact: Undocumented immigrants can’t buy ACA coverage. Republicans know this. They’re lying to distract from the fact that they voted to kick 15 million Americans off health coverage, including their own constituents.”
Later that day, Chu reflected on the two-year anniversary of attacks in Israel by Hamas. On October 7 she posted: “Two years after Hamas’ horrific October 7 attacks, Israelis are still mourning the lives lost during the darkest day in their nation’s history and waiting for the return of the hostages. Chu also criticized federal officials and Republican lawmakers regarding transportation safety amid a government shutdown. In her post at 18:42 UTC on October 7, she stated: “While the Secretary of Transportation celebrated Pride sidewalks being torn up, Burbank Airport went 6 hours without a single air traffic controller because of the Republican shutdown. Flights were delayed and cancelled. Our skies were less safe. Many of my constituents rely on”
Judy Chu has represented California’s 28th District since replacing Hilda Solis in Congress in 2009; prior to that she served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and residing in Monterey Park, Chu is an alumna of UCLA with a bachelor’s degree earned in 1974.
