Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, has recently posted a series of statements on her official social media account addressing a range of national and international issues.
On October 8, 2025, Chu criticized House Speaker Johnson for not swearing in Rep-elect Adelita Grijalva, stating, “Speaker Johnson won’t swear in Rep-elect Adelita Grijalva all because he wants to block the Epstein files and keep the government closed. He’s already sworn in 2 Republicans this year when the House was not in session. Her constituents deserve representation. Swear her in now.”
Later that same day, Chu commented on the conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, posting, “Sickening. A masked ICE agent pointing a weapon at an unarmed civilian on a public sidewalk. This is happening in America, under Trump’s orders. It happened in Pasadena. It happened in Chicago. And it will keep happening if ICE is unaccountable. I introduced the VISIBLE Act to https://t.co/bmGePJbcyk”
On October 9, 2025, Chu addressed developments in the Middle East, writing, “I welcome the news that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a ceasefire framework. After two years of immense suffering, this is an important first step toward bringing the hostages home and ending the unfathomable humanitarian disaster in Gaza. We cannot afford to”
Chu, who was born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently resides in Monterey Park, has represented California’s 28th district since succeeding Hilda Solis in 2009. She previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006 and graduated from UCLA with a BA in 1974.
