Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district since 2009, has recently addressed several national and cultural issues through her official social media account.
On October 6, 2025, Chu criticized a recent legal decision involving the National Guard, writing: “A Trump-appointed federal judge just ruled against his attempt to send California’s National Guard to Oregon over the objections of both States. Why? Because it’s blatantly unconstitutional. Deploying the National Guard to Democratic cities isn’t law enforcement, it’s an”. The post refers to an attempt by former President Donald Trump to deploy California’s National Guard across state lines despite opposition from both affected states.
Later that day, Chu extended greetings for a major cultural holiday, stating: “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! To everyone celebrating, may this season of gratitude bring you peace, happiness, time shared with loved ones, and of course plenty of delicious mooncakes.” This message acknowledged the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival among communities in her district and beyond.
In another post on October 6, Chu criticized congressional Republicans for their handling of healthcare coverage and legislative scheduling: “‘Working around the clock’? Republicans are on week 3 of vacation while 24 million Americans face skyrocketing premiums. In July they kicked 15 million Americans off coverage to give tax cuts to billionaires.”
Chu has been serving in Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. She was born in Los Angeles in 1953 and resides in Monterey Park. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA earned in 1974.
