Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, has recently addressed a range of issues on her official Twitter account, including reproductive rights, support for nurses, and economic concerns under the Trump administration.
On May 5, 2026, Chu voiced her stance on access to mifepristone as a member of the Reproductive Rights Caucus: “As a member of @ReproCaucus, I’m proud to stand with 250+ Democrats to defend access to mifepristone. Mifepristone has been proven safe & effective for 25+ years. We won’t let extremists override decades of science to take away essential health care #SCOTUS must restore access”.
During National Nurses Week on May 6, 2026, Chu expressed appreciation for healthcare workers in her district: “During National Nurses Week, let us show our appreciation for the wonderful nurses who keep CA-28 safe and healthy! Your work is invaluable in providing quality care, and I will always push for more resources to support the nursing profession and fight against health care cuts.”
Later that day, she commented on economic pressures facing Americans: “Now correct me if I’m wrong, but Americans having to spend more on everything, not just gas, doesn’t quite seem like a positive. The Trump Administration continues to ignore that hardworking Americans are struggling to afford basics, all while prioritizing illegal wars.”
Chu was born in Los Angeles in 1953 and resides in Monterey Park. She earned her BA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1974. Before serving in Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006.
