U.S. Representative Judy Chu, who serves California’s 28th district, has recently addressed two key issues on her social media accounts: the introduction of the Redistricting Reform Act of 2025 and concerns regarding the delayed evacuation during the Eaton Fire in west Altadena.
On September 25, 2025, Chu stated via her official account, “Trump is rigging congressional maps. That’s why I joined my California colleagues to introduce the Redistricting Reform Act of 2025 — to guarantee nonpartisan, independent redistricting nationwide. Because in the U.S., voters choose their representatives, not the other way https://t.co/76J6DvUNRG”. The post addresses concerns about partisan gerrymandering and highlights legislative efforts aimed at establishing nonpartisan redistricting processes across the country.
Later that day, Chu shared a brief message including links without additional commentary: “https://t.co/a6DU7vi9il https://t.co/jffhNCo51Q” (September 25, 2025).
On September 26, 2025, Chu responded to an independent report concerning emergency responses to the Eaton Fire. She wrote: “The independent report released today raises more questions than it answers. We need to know exactly why evacuation orders in west Altadena were so delayed, and how the 19 deaths in the Eaton Fire could have been prevented. Chu has represented California’s 28th district since 2009 after succeeding Hilda Solis in Congress and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, she graduated from UCLA with a BA in 1974.
