Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district and Vice Chair of the Equality Caucus, posted a series of statements on social media regarding recent Supreme Court arguments, health care premiums, and the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 7, 2025, Chu addressed the Supreme Court hearing on Chiles v. Salazar, stating, “Today, SCOTUS heard arguments in Chiles v. Salazar. As Vice Chair of the @EqualityCaucus, I joined Chair @RepMarkTakano in urging the Court to uphold Colorado’s rightful ban on the harmful & discredited pseudoscience of conversion therapy. Every person deserves the freedom to”.
Later that day, Chu commented on health care premiums, writing, “Here’s an idea: he could start by keeping 24 million Americans from seeing their premiums double this month.”
On October 8, 2025, Chu discussed the government shutdown, stating, “It’s been a full week since Republicans shut down the government.
Instead of working with @HouseDemocrats to reopen it and lower health care costs for millions of Americans, they’ve chosen to stay home while families across the country pay the price.”
Chu has served in Congress since 2009 after succeeding Hilda Solis and previously held a seat in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953, she currently resides in Monterey Park and is a graduate of UCLA.
