Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, used her social media platform this week to address public health and legislative issues, focusing on vaccine policy and support for foster youth education.
On April 28, 2026, Chu referenced discussions in the House Ways and Means Committee by stating: “Today in @WaysMeansCmte, health leaders said it straight: Show RFK Jr. the door. His anti-vaccine agenda has been a public health disaster. He has eroded trust in lifesaving vaccines for measles, the flu, COVID, and hepatitis B—driving up illness & costs across our health”. In another post later that day, she added: “These studies confirm what we knew all along. Even a short delay in the hepatitis B vaccine will lead to more preventable deaths, hundreds of additional infections, and millions of dollars in added health care costs. RFK Jr.’s decision to overhaul the CDC’s vaccine advisory”.
Turning to legislative matters on April 29, Chu announced progress on a bipartisan bill supporting foster youth: “Today, my bipartisan bill with @RepNateMoran, H.R. 7463 the Foster Youth Postsecondary Education Access and Success Act, passed through @WaysMeansCmte markup. This bill would remove barriers and help more foster youth obtain a college degree. I’m proud of this victory, and we”.
Chu’s statements come as she continues her tenure as a member of Congress after replacing Hilda Solis in 2009. She previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006 and was born in Los Angeles in 1953 before earning her BA from UCLA in 1974.
