Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district since 2009, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on August 11, 2025.
In her first post, Chu reflected on the anniversary of major veterans’ healthcare legislation: “Three years ago yesterday, the PACT Act became law, the largest expansion of Veterans’ healthcare in decades. I was proud to help pass it. Now, Trump has fired thousands of Vets, attacked the VA & gutted their union rights. I’ll keep fighting for those who served.” (August 11, 2025).
Later that day, Chu commented on recent federal policy changes affecting clean energy incentives: “Trump is slashing clean energy tax credits, but there is still time left to claim what you’re entitled to and save thousands. Learn how to cut costs before it’s too late: https://t.co/k18oO5vAKw https://t.co/qvIR7cuMb9” (August 11, 2025).
She also participated in an event calling for oversight at a Los Angeles immigration facility: ” Happening Now I’m live with @BradSherman, @RepJimmyGomez, and @RepMaxineWaters as we demand accountability at the DTLA immigration detention center.” (August 11, 2025).
Chu has represented California’s 28th District in Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. She was born in Los Angeles in 1953 and resides in Monterey Park. A graduate of UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree earned in 1974, Chu has focused her congressional work on healthcare access and social justice issues.
