Judy Chu, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district, announced federal funding initiatives and commented on national budget priorities in a series of posts on her official Twitter account in early April 2026.
The following day, April 3, she criticized former President Donald Trump’s proposed military budget and its impact on domestic programs. She posted, “Trump is proposing the highest military budget in American history to pay for his war, and meanwhile he wants to CUT funding for health, housing, and education programs. Once again, he’s putting Americans last.”
Later that same day, Chu highlighted her participation in a local housing project event: “I was thrilled to attend the ribbon cutting of Larkin Place in Claremont! This project was made possible thanks to $3,000,000 in federal community project funding that I secured for the @SGVCOG Regional Housing Trust. These new affordable housing units will reduce homelessness”.
Chu has served as a member of Congress since 2009 after replacing Hilda Solis and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park at age 69, Chu graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974.
