Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district since 2009, addressed several health care and public health issues in a series of tweets on December 2, 2025.
In her first tweet posted at 19:27 UTC, Chu criticized Republican health care policies, stating: “Republicans’ health plan is simple: let ACA tax credits expire, force families onto junk or high-deductible plans, and call it a day. These schemes benefit higher-income households while leaving transplant patients and working families without real coverage. Families need https://t.co/sSgsm6k9sT”.
Later that evening at 20:59 UTC, she commented on former President Donald Trump’s approach to economic challenges facing working Americans. Chu wrote: “Trump has no plan to fix the affordability crisis for working people because he doesn’t believe it’s real. Instead, he’s making things worse: health care premiums are doubling, groceries are up, and tariffs are squeezing families even more. Republicans defending this disastrous https://t.co/zj08rT2lkP”.
At 23:17 UTC the same day, Chu addressed concerns over hepatitis B vaccination in light of recent statements by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., saying: “The hepatitis B vaccination is safe, saves lives, and prevents cancer. RFK’s decision is dangerous and disturbingly misguided. It will also disproportionately harm Asian American communities, who are just 7% of the U.S. population yet account for 60% of Hep B cases. This https://t.co/TRz6del94u”.
Chu has been active in legislative matters related to public health throughout her tenure in Congress. Before joining Congress in 2009 as Hilda Solis’s successor, she served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974.
