U.S. Representative Judy Chu, who represents California’s 28th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on April 10, 2026, addressing concerns over proposed federal budget cuts to NASA and the rising cost of living for her constituents.
On April 10, Chu commented on the Trump administration’s fiscal year 2027 budget proposal: “Trump’s OMB FY27 budget request calls for deep cuts to NASA, potentially canceling more than 40 missions — including several led by JPL here in CA-28. With co-chair @RepDonBacon of the bipartisan Congressional Planetary Science Caucus, I will keep fighting to ensure NASA has https://t.co/3wn6ceo2GA”. In a follow-up tweet posted the same day, she directed followers to further information: “To read our full statement, visit: https://t.co/mIwRVr8U0Z”.
Later that afternoon, Chu addressed economic pressures facing families in her district: “For the average family in CA-28, electricity bills have surged by $145, and transportation costs increased another $581, squeezing already tight budgets. Because of Trump’s war in Iran, the cost of living is at its highest level in years. https://t.co/Bp5kSTB9Np”.
