Judy Chu, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, posted several statements on September 26, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party for actions related to health care policy and access to contraception.
In a tweet from September 26 at 16:08 UTC, Chu wrote: “He stripped health care from 15 million people. He’s threatening a shutdown so he can end the ACA tax credits that lower costs for millions more. Now he’s slamming Americans with higher costs on medicine, furniture, and trucks. Every part of his agenda means middle-class”.
Later that day at 18:51 UTC, Chu posted about her visit to Wesley Health Center in Pasadena: “Today I joined patients and providers at the Wesley Health Center in Pasadena to hear how Trump’s health care cuts are hurting them. In CA-28, 61k people face crushing premium hikes if Trump & Republicans shut down the government instead of protecting Americans’ ACA tax credits.”
Addressing World Contraception Day on September 26 at 20:58 UTC, Chu stated: “This #WorldContraceptionDay, the Trump admin is planning to destroy $10M in taxpayer-funded contraceptives. I recently co-led a letter demanding an investigation. As Chair of @ReproCaucus Contraception Task Force, I’ll always fight for access to birth control at home & abroad.”
Chu has represented California’s 28th district in Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, she graduated from UCLA with a BA in 1974.
