Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, has used her social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump and Republican leaders over recent energy policy decisions.
On October 4, 2025, Chu wrote on X: “Trump and Republicans are lying to cover up for their failure to govern. Here’s the truth behind their lies.”
Two days later, on October 6, she posted: “Trump is canceling clean energy projects in California & other blue states for no reason but retaliation & cruelty. This shortsighted punishment will hurt EVERYONE by raising energy prices across the country for all Americans, killing jobs, & imperiling our health. This is”
In a subsequent post on the same day, Chu stated: “That’s why I’m a cosponsor of @RepBarragan’s Stop the Trump Electricity Price Hikes Act to reverse Trump’s reckless cuts to these clean energy projects. While Trump is driving up electricity bills and killing good-paying jobs, we’re fighting back.”
Chu’s remarks come amid broader debates about federal support for renewable energy initiatives and state-federal relations regarding environmental policy. As a member of Congress since 2009—after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006—Chu has been active in legislative efforts related to clean energy and job creation.
Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu holds a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
