Judy Chu, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, addressed economic and political concerns in a series of posts on October 2, 2025.
In her first message, Chu criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies. On October 2, she wrote: “Trump’s illegal trade war is reckless, costly, and getting worse. Nearly half of big companies hiked prices in just 6 months. Most say more hikes are coming.”
Later the same day, Chu shared information about local business support initiatives for those affected by federal immigration enforcement. She stated: “Small businesses in LA County impacted by federal immigration enforcement may qualify for up to $5,000 in relief through LA County’s Small Business Resiliency Fund. Deadline to apply is Friday, October 31st. Learn more & apply: https://t.co/TMme7Kyopd https://t.co/Ul9swDexO6”
Chu also commented on healthcare policy and government actions related to health insurance premiums. In another post from October 2, she wrote: “When Republicans wanted tax cuts for billionaires, they kicked 15 million Americans off health care to do it. Now, as premiums for 24 million Americans are set to skyrocket by 114%, they shut down the government. That’s the Republican health plan in action.”
Chu has represented California’s 28th District since replacing Hilda Solis in Congress in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA in 1974.
