Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, posted a series of tweets on May 19 and May 20, 2026, addressing recent legislative developments and ongoing political debates.
On May 19, Chu announced the passage of a bipartisan bill in the House, stating: “Today, the House passed my and @RepNateMoran’s Foster Youth Postsecondary Education Access and Success Act! Our bipartisan bill would help more foster youth pursue higher education by strengthening the value of Education & Training Vouchers and removing the barriers foster youth”. The following day, Chu commented on Republican legislative efforts affecting transgender youth. She wrote: “Here we go again. This week, Republicans continue their disgusting attacks on trans youth. While doing absolutely nothing to solve the cost-of-living crisis. As the proud Aunt of my trans nephew, Republicans’ “Don’t Say Trans” and Forced Outing bills are personal to my family.”
Chu has served in Congress since replacing Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953, she currently resides in Monterey Park and is an alumna of UCLA.
