Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 28th district since 2009, shared updates on her official Twitter account about recent engagements focused on community leadership and disaster recovery efforts in the Los Angeles area.
On May 20, 2026, Chu posted about a meeting with Shahnawaz Ahmad: “Today, I met with Shahnawaz Ahmad, who is being honored as one of @APWAGovAffairs’ Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the Year. As President of SA Associates in Arcadia, his dedication to improving the San Gabriel Valley’s roads and water systems ensures our community continues to”.
Later that day, she addressed ongoing challenges related to federal disaster relief following major fires in Los Angeles: “Over a year after the Los Angeles Fires, our communities are still waiting for critical federal disaster funding needed to recover & rebuild. Today, I had a productive conversation with @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom, joined by my colleagues @BradSherman, @Rep_Whitesides,”. The same message was reiterated in another post at nearly the same time: “Over a year after the Los Angeles Fires, our communities are still waiting for critical federal disaster funding needed to recover & rebuild. Today, I had a productive conversation with @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom, joined by my colleagues @BradSherman, @Rep_Whitesides,”.
Chu has represented California’s 28th District since succeeding Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu holds a BA from UCLA earned in 1974.
