Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district since 2009, posted on her Twitter account on August 19, 2025, about her recent efforts to protect Social Security and language access rights.
In a tweet dated August 19, 2025, Chu stated: “Yesterday, I joined Via Care and Alhambra’s Joslyn Senior Center to mark Social Security’s 90th anniversary! Seniors rely on their earned benefits in retirement, but Trump is taking a wrecking ball to the program. I’ll keep fighting to protect Social Security from his cuts.”
Later that day, she addressed an issue related to language services under the Department of Justice during the Trump administration.
Judy Chu has represented California’s 28th district in Congress since succeeding Hilda Solis in 2009 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu is also an alumna of the University of California, Los Angeles.
