Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district, recently addressed issues of historical anti-Asian violence and religious celebration in a series of posts on her social media account.
On May 26, 2026, Chu posted about a significant but often overlooked event in American history: “The 1885 Rock Springs Chinese Massacre is one of the most horrific and shameful acts of anti-Asian violence in our nation’s history. And for too long, it’s gone unacknowledged. That’s why today I introduced a resolution recognizing the massacre, condemning efforts to erase or”. The following day, on May 27, Chu extended holiday greetings to her constituents and others observing Eid Al-Adha: “Eid Mubarak! Wishing everyone who celebrates in the San Gabriel Valley and across the world a blessed Eid Al-Adha surrounded by family and friends.”
Chu has represented California’s 28th District in Congress since 2009 after replacing Hilda Solis. She previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006. Born in Los Angeles in 1953 and currently residing in Monterey Park, Chu graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974.
