Judy Chu hosts annual app challenge with record participation

Judy Chu, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 28th district, shared updates on her recent activities through a series of tweets. Chu has been serving in Congress since 2009 after replacing Hilda Solis and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2001 to 2006.

On December 10, 2024, Judy Chu tweeted about hosting her "6th Annual Congressional App Challenge" aimed at supporting STEM education. She noted that this year saw a record number of submissions with "67 entries." Chu congratulated Kelly Z. from Polytechnic School for winning with an app titled "Vision of Grove," which is designed to assist in disaster relief and cyclone risk assessment. Later that day, Judy Chu joined the ERA Caucus and community leaders to advocate for enshrining equal rights into the Constitution regardless of gender. She highlighted concerns over fundamental rights such as abortion and transgender protections being under threat and urged President Biden to direct the U.S. National Archives to certify and publish the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
