Judy Chu, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California's 28th district, expressed her concerns over the Republican-Trump budget proposals in a series of tweets on February 13, 2025. The tweets criticized the proposed budget cuts to healthcare and their implications for American citizens.

In her first tweet, Chu joined her colleagues from the House Budget Democrats to oppose what she termed as the "Republican Rip-Off." She claimed that the budget would reduce healthcare coverage while benefiting billionaires. Chu described this move as "contemptible." "Joining my @HouseBudgetDems colleagues all day today to fight the Republican-Trump budget—aka the Republican Rip-Off."

Later that day, Chu highlighted specific aspects of the proposed budget, stating that it involved slashing billions from Medicaid, which would impact seniors and children. She questioned whether these cuts were justified by potential tax benefits for billionaires like Elon Musk. Chu referred to this trade-off as a "betrayal of the American people." "Republicans have made this trade off in their budget: slash billions from Medicaid - leaving seniors & children without the adequate health care they need - to pay for tax cuts for billionaires."

In her final tweet of the day, Chu reiterated her commitment to fighting against the Republican majority's budget alongside her fellow House Budget Democrats. She accused the proposal of betraying Americans by cutting healthcare services in favor of tax reductions for wealthy individuals. Additionally, she referenced past actions by what she called the Trump-Vance Administration. "I'll be with my @HouseBudgetDems all day fighting the Republican's majority's budget that would betray Americans by cutting their health care to pay for millionaire and billionaire tax cuts."
