CITY OF CLAREMONT: Acting City Manager Looks Forward to Next 90 Days

Position management

City of Claremont issued the following announcement on Oct. 21

Claremont Finance Director Adam Pirrie will assume the job of Acting City Manager on Friday, October 23, 2020. In preparation for this job, Mr. Pirrie has met with management staff to review upcoming projects and outline a course of action for the next three months.

“Over the next few months, City staff will be moving forward on priority projects, including COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery efforts, securing the City’s financial future through the pursuit of economic and commercial development opportunities, and addressing the needs of its community through the development of affordable housing and compassionate service programs for unsheltered individuals,” said Mr. Pirrie.

Beginning in late November, the City will solicit community feedback on three important long range planning documents. Staff anticipates the release of the Draft Village South Specific Plan and related Environmental Impact Report for public review and comment within the next 90 days. The City will host a community workshop to gather community input on potential affordable housing sites as part of the City’s Housing Element and staff will begin updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan which outlines the City’s preparations and response to emergencies.

In addition to these major projects, staff will be focused on providing voter assistance for the November 3, 2020 election and preparing for the City Council reorganization in December. Following the election and reorganization, the City Council will hold its annual workshop in January to set priorities for 2021-22.
