Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 28th district, has expressed her concerns regarding recent actions by former President Donald Trump through a series of tweets. Chu, who has been serving in Congress since 2009, voiced her opinions on Trump's policies and their potential impacts.
On January 28, 2025, Judy Chu criticized Trump for allegedly violating the separation of powers while many Republican House colleagues were at his resort in Doral, Florida. She suggested that they should inform him about how funding freezes could negatively affect their districts and constituents. "While Trump knowingly violates separation of powers, most of my Republican House colleagues are in Doral, Florida, at his resort."
In another tweet posted on the same day, Chu addressed Trump's comments to wildfire victims in Los Angeles. She highlighted that despite Trump's assurance of support "100%," his decisions put disaster relief at risk. Chu mentioned she is working to assess the impact on recovery efforts and characterized Trump's approach as chaotic and confusing. "Trump told victims of the wildfires in LA that he is with us '100%.' But this decision puts disaster relief we are relying on at risk."
Later that day, Chu tweeted about her disapproval of an administrative decision affecting Medicaid. She pointed out that Medicaid supports healthcare for 80 million Americans and is crucial for hospitals and health centers. Chu accused the Trump Administration of creating unnecessary crises and harming Americans with its policies. "This is unacceptable."
