Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 28th district, recently hosted prominent Democratic leaders to discuss pressing issues affecting Los Angeles County. The series of tweets posted by Chu highlight the visit and key concerns raised during their meeting.

On January 30, 2025, Judy Chu expressed her honor in hosting House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar to assess the damage caused by the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County. She emphasized "the urgent need for federal disaster assistance" following this event. "This morning, I was honored to host House Democratic Leader @RepJeffries, @WhipKClark, and Caucus Chair @RepPeteAguilar to assess the damage of the Eaton Fire and to relay the urgent need for federal disaster assistance in Los Angeles County."

In another tweet on the same day, Chu addressed concerns about recent actions by the Trump administration. She stated that they had attempted "to freeze federal grant and loan funding," which she believes threatens recovery efforts and impacts Americans' quality of life nationwide. @RepJeffries @WhipKClark @RepPeteAguilar We also addressed the Trump administration's recent attempt to freeze federal grant and loan funding—an action that threatens our recovery efforts and hurts the quality of life for Americans nationwide.

Furthermore, Chu highlighted that Jeffries, Clark, and Aguilar are "the highest Congressional Leadership" to have visited San Gabriel Valley since the Eaton Fire. She expressed gratitude for their visit as it allowed them to witness firsthand the damage caused by the fire and engage with affected constituents such as Dr. Jackie Jacobs. @RepJeffries @WhipKClark @RepPeteAguilar So far, they are the highest Congressional Leadership that’s visited the SGV since the Eaton Fire. I’m incredibly grateful for their time.
