Judy Chu, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 28th district since 2009, recently shared her views on several actions by former President Donald Trump through a series of tweets. Her comments focus on veterans, Social Security services, and economic impacts from trade policies.

On March 5, 2025, Judy Chu tweeted about her anticipation for Donald Trump to acknowledge veterans present in the chamber whom he had allegedly dismissed without cause. "Waiting for Trump to recognize the veterans in the chamber right now who he fired without cause."

Later that day, she criticized Trump's approach towards Social Security services. She stated that field offices were being shut down, workers fired, and services outsourced, equating these actions to a cut in benefits under another guise. "He's also shutting down @SocialSecurity field offices, firing workers, and outsourcing services. It's just a Social Security benefit cut by another name."

In another tweet posted shortly thereafter, Chu addressed Trump's comments regarding tariffs and their impact on American families. She quoted him acknowledging potential disturbances due to his tariff trade war and highlighted the financial burden it could impose on average American families annually. "There it is. Trump says, 'There will be a little disturbance...it won't be much.' He's admitting his tariff trade war will raise prices and hurt American businesses. That minor disturbance? A cost increase of $1600 - $2000 for average American families annually."
