Judy Chu, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California's 28th district, recently expressed her concerns over legislative actions and statements by political figures through a series of tweets. Chu has been serving in Congress since 2009 after replacing Hilda Solis and has previously served in the California State Assembly.
On March 11, 2025, Judy Chu criticized House Republicans for passing a funding bill that she claims cuts services for families while providing financial benefits to Elon Musk. She stated, "Today, House Republicans passed a funding bill cutting services for families and giving Elon Musk a slush fund of our tax dollars. I voted no."
In another tweet on March 12, 2025, Chu accused Republicans of being overly compliant with Donald Trump and Elon Musk. She raised concerns about potential privacy invasions regarding taxpayer information due to DOGE's access to U.S. Treasury systems. Chu emphasized the need for transparency by stating, "Republicans have been SO unquestionably submissive and obedient to Trump & Musk that they cannot even bring themselves to ask questions about whether @DOGE's access to @USTreasury systems invades taxpayer confidentially."
Later on the same day, Chu addressed comments made by Elon Musk and Donald Trump regarding Social Security. She warned against Republican efforts to undermine Social Security with intentions to cut or privatize it. Her commitment was evident when she declared, "Elon Musk likened Social Security to a Ponzi scheme, and Donald Trump dismissed it as a scam." She further assured that Democrats would fight to protect these benefits.
