On March 20, 2025, Judy Chu criticized actions taken by prominent figures, stating: "Lastly, this is unconstitutional and @HouseDemocrats will fight back. The Department of Education was created by Congress and it is funded by Congress. This is just Trump and Elon’s latest attempt to ignore the law and take a hatchet to the programs you rely on."
The following day, March 21, 2025, she reminded those affected by the Eaton Fire about impending deadlines for federal relief applications: "Ten days left to make sure you and those you know who have been affected by the Eaton Fire have applied for federal relief: 1. FEMA Individual Assistance... 2. SBA Disaster Loan... 3. Debris Removal Program Right of Entry form..."
On March 22, 2025, Chu participated in an aerial tour with other officials to assess fire damage in Altadena and the Palisades. She commented on the urgent need for disaster aid: "Today, I joined @KenCalvert, @CAL_FIRE, and @USACEHQ for an aerial tour of the fire damage in Altadena and the Palisades. The devastation is a powerful reminder of the urgent need for disaster aid." She assured that recovery efforts would be undertaken with resilience.
